Mannerisms - "It's The Little Things That Count"

The Fourth Doctor seemed to have certain mannerisms, perhaps this is all down to personal perception though rather than fact, but who cares? This is just fun.
Things The Fourth Doctor often seemed to do (with examples of him caught in the act!):

"I've Got It! Ouch..."
If he had a revelation he would often knock/slap his head. Which in a way was saying "Of course! Why didn't I think of that sooner!? Come on silly brain, work!" or a way of knocking sense into himself perhaps if he does it before exclaiming "Ah!" :) Must hurt if you suddenly get a lot of revelations in one go though. As a sidenote though, have you ever seen that Monty Python skit with the dozy mayor, where his wife has to knock his head from side to side in an attempt to roll his brain back into place like a pinball machine? Perhaps the Fourth Doctor is playing pinball with his brain :D
The Doctor: "*WHACK* *Sound Of Pinball Machine* Ah! Of course, what a wonderful idea! That's 200 points for me!"

Scarf Comforter
Sometimes it looked as if he was using that scarf like a security blanket/comforter. As he would seemingly hug it to his face as if it was relaxing. You can interpret it a few ways (for fun): maybe he just idly liked how soft it felt and it had no real meaning or maybe it was like a comforter since he did it when worried. Leela once uses it in a similar way funnily enough, when scared in The Invisible Enemy.

The Skid!
Usually done when he's running and needs to stop suddenly or turn back. But sometimes he just seems to do it for fun and what fun it is too :)

Ruffling Hair
Usually done when trying to think deeply or consider things carefully. Also may be done when annoyed.

"Hands Up!"
When asked to do something by a villain he'll often do it exactly down to each and every word in an effort to annoy them. So if he's told to put his hands up he'll often put them right up really high and very fast. Tom Baker himself said he'd play it like this to show the Fourth Doctor being ostentatious as if trying to surprise or annoy the enemy etc. Although I don't think it ever did much, at least he tried! But the Fourth Doctor does manage to annoy his enemy sometimes by taking their demands literally in this way. Two examples:
1) During the Seeds of Doom the villain Scorby has the Fourth Doctor at gun-point and demands that he turn around, so the Doctor does a 360 degrees turn and ends up where he started!
2) During the Android Invasion the Doctor is reading a large paper and is suddenly again being held at gun-point by a man who orders him to put his hands up. So the Doctor does immediately without putting the paper down first. The enemy therefore ends up talking to a piece of paper until finally having enough and tearing it down.

Whistling
He often seemed to whistle. And particularly one tune on more than one occassion.

"I'll Repeat That, I'll Repeat That"
Certain words seemed to come up a lot with the Fourth Doctor or perhaps it was just the distinct way in which they were spoken that drew attention. I think people note the word "Ah!" or the extended version "Ahh" :D

Nose Rubbing
Some people may notice this one so I should mention it although technically it was actually an unconscious habit of Tom Baker's at the time. But of course it can become part of the character regardless so if you like you can interpet the habit into the Fourth Doctor's personality. Similar to Mulder from The X-Files and his oral fixation habit although I don't know if this was also a habit of the actor in question.
