Info >> Episodes Episodes Robot Here comes the Fourth Doctor! Hooray!! First story I watched of his where I was properly paying attention (I was busy working during Pyramids of Mars). I instantly liked him, even from his first lines he's funny! He seemed fun and interesting. A big kid with a restless spirit who just wants to go out into the unknown and have fun. The King-Kong bit was silly but oh well! All in good fun. Some scenes I particularly liked was firstly The Doctor's run-around with the robot in the warehouse (or wherever that was) and the Doctor sneaking into and gatecrashing the baddies party. It's great how his antics on stage even entertain his enemies in the audience. The use of the Sonic Screwdriver to set the bombs off is quite nifty :) Although it does open up problems (e.g. why not use it in Genesis of the Daleks at the minefield? But then I don't actually care :D And well you can always use some imagination e.g. Skaro bombs are superior and immune to the Sonic Screwdriver, who knows!) The Ark in Space This story was more quiet due to the need for developing a sinister atmosphere on the isolated spacestation. The scenes between Harry and the Doctor during the first episode are probably my favourites. The Fourth Doctor seems to really establish his 'benevolent alien' air (of which Tom Baker was aiming for) here, especially with the well-received and convincing delivery of the "Homosapiens" speach. It's also interesting how he blatantly almost sacrifices himself here (by insisting on activating the rocket which would mean certain death), although he's always doing this one way or another it seems more prominent to me in this one and in only his second story too. The Sontaran Experiment The scenes between the captive Doctor and the stranded space team are my favourites here. This includes that wonderful bit after the Doctor escapes them and winds up meeting them again. I love Tom's delivery of the line "I can't say I'm happy to see you. There's no use pretending". So deadpan and he even starts relaxing on the rocks to physically show his lack of enthusiasm, made me laugh. The whole human experiments plot is interesting. Genesis of the Daleks Great atmosphere in this story. I really liked it. Hmm... Can't think of a particular scene, the Doctor is just generally great in it. Lots of nifty dialogue directed towards the villains from him. Maybe I'll add some more later. Revenge of the Cybermen Pretty fun story. I like the scene where the Doctor is playing with a yoyo despite being close to death. I like any scene with the yoyo though. Thinking about this story now... the bit near the end with the Doctor trying to steer the spacestation past the planet reminds me of one of those flight simulator rides at theme parks :D An idea for a Doctor Who theme park perhaps? OK it'd be a short ride... Terror of the Zygons I like the scene where the Doctor names the song the guy with the bagpipes is playing to demonstrate its significance as it shows the Doctor being respectful/sensitive in quite an understated and intelligent way. Also I like the Doctor talking back at his enemies after being captured and then later being thought to be dead by everyone including himself whilst making an escape attempt. The bit where he's trying to escape the giant plastic toy dinosaur (I'm just kidding) is fun for the action, I believe there's a brief moment where he trips and disappears for a moment then pops back up again, I liked that little clumsy touch :D Bye bye to Harry. Shame, he seemed like a nice companion.
